The City of Springfield’s Fiscal Year 2023 budget hearings will take place on January 24, 27, 31, and February 3, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 300 S. 7th Street, 3rd floor. The new fiscal year begins March 1, 2022.
The FY 23 proposed budget will include initiatives to improve Public Works services, reposition fires houses for better response, and additional police resources to improve public safety. The City’s fiscal year runs March 1 thru February 28.
Forty-five funds make up the City of Springfield budget with the Corporate Fund receiving the most focus. The City’s Corporate Fund includes the budgets for the Springfield Police; Springfield Fire; Public Works; Lincoln Library; Human Resources; Budget & Management; along with the City Council, City Clerk, City Treasurer, and Mayor’s Office. The other 44 funds are dedicated to specific items not associated with day-to-day operations and specifically earmarked for designated areas.
The hearings are open to the public and facemasks are required for anyone in attendance for the duration of the meetings.
